Reunited
Safety Adrian Colbert is rejoining the Bears.
The Bears announce Tuesday that they were signing an old friend to their practice squad. Safety Adrian Colbert will be re-joining the team in depth roll. You probably recognize the name from HBO’s Hard Knocks. Colbert was a fan favorite on the show because of his unique personality. Also he is probably best remembered for the emotional scene where GM Ryan Poles had to release him during training camp.
Per Tom Pelissero injuries made it logical to bring the Colbert back. I hope this is merely because of because Jaquan Brisker being placed on the on the IR and not because they are truly worried about the availability of Elijah Hicks. The Defense is already being taxed by missing several starters, and it would be a real disappointment if things got worse from here
Colbert has been around the NFL for quite a while. He was drafted 229th overall by San Francisco in 2017. He has moved around quite a bit over the course of his career. He spent 2017-2018 with the Forty niners, then the bouncing started. For parts of 2019 he spent time with both San Francisco and Miami. Then in 2020 he played for the Giants, and then 2021 with the Jets. In that time he racked up 37 games, with 84 tackles.
I, like most people really enjoyed Colbert on Hard Knocks. He was unique, and a great storyline to follow through the show. I’m glad he’s getting this chance, but I hope it doesn’t mean we have more injuries to look forward to this afternoon.
